The Art of Tim Burton Films

In the late 1980′s AFA acquired concept drawings from The  Black Cauldron that were drawn by Tim Burton when he was a young animator in the employ of the Walt Disney Studios. The gallery developed a great admiration for his creative genius, which inspired the presence of his work in their New York showrooms for the next 20+ years. When the MoMA opened a major retrospective of Burton’s artistic career in 2009 it became one of the most successful exhibitions in their history. The MoMA exhibition catalogue is available for purchase here.

This archive primarily serves as an online exhibition of the work we have acquired and placed in private collections over the years.  The  collection includes paintings and character designs from Burton’s own personal collection, but mainly concept storyboards, puppets and props from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas & Corpse Bride  rendered by studio artists who worked on the films under his direction. Please email or call us to inquire about price and availability of pieces still at AFA, or to receive updates about our new aquisitions.
